Welcome to the City of Norwich Aviation Museum’s website; home of Norfolk’s Aviation Heritage for over forty years. With an outdoor space housing nearly 30 aircraft, cockpit sections and exhibits; we’re certain you’ll discover something new at Norfolk’s largest aviation museum!

Indoors, explore the museums varied collection of smaller displays including it’s Royal Air Force 100 Group Room and United States Army 8th Air Force Collection and why not relax and enjoy a freshly brewed coffee in our modern, air-conditioned tea room before embarking on a guided tour in one or more of our aircraft maintained by our dedicated team of volunteers.*

*Avro Vulcan Bomber, Hawker Siddeley Nimrod, & Avro RJ85 access are subject to volunteer availability and weather conditions. Please note that aircraft tours are subject to a small additional charge that is used to assist with the restoration and upkeep of those aircraft.

At the City of Norwich Aviation Museum; we are committed to recording and preserving Norfolk’s Rich Aviation Heritage.

The museum is reliant on the support of a dedicated team of volunteers, and without these people our continued existence would be impossible. As a growing organisation, we are always looking to welcome new, enthusiastic and hands on volunteers. There are several areas a volunteer can support us, and they aren’t always obvious!

Our volunteers come from all backgrounds and walks of life, and are always on hand to offer assistance or teach new skills. The museum provides a welcoming, open and inclusive atmosphere and as such will always aim to get new volunteers involved, whatever their knowledge or practical skills.

If you feel as though you can be part of our amazing Volunteer team, please take a look at our membership terms and membership form.

As a volunteer, you are registering to become a member of the City of Norwich Aviation Museum. If you are unable to commit to volunteering at the museum and visit regularly; we would recommend looking at our annual passes.

 Verified Vulcantastic Great museum if you have an interest in aviation, we spent at least 2 1/2 hours looking around even the kids enjoyed it and they don't like planes, but it was dads choice this time . The only downside and this was us not checking is they don't allow dogs so we had to have one person sitting outside with the dog. Great staff and well priced.  Verified Go visit and support this fantastic museum My son and I stopped off here last minute on our way home from the Coast, passed it several times on the NDR so thought we would see what it was all about. Neither of us are aviation enthusiasts but we still both really enjoyed the visit, its not all WW2 memorabilia but displays on past commercial planes that flew from Norwich which was really interesting. We made an extra donation for a tour of the inside of two planes with Mark which was really fascinating, my Son who is 15 really enjoyed it. Little tea rooms as well and we stayed for around 2 hours. Well worth a visit whether you are a big plane fan or not.

 Verified A place to visit on a cool day! We chose the museum as Trip Advisor stated it had very effective aircon but what we failed to realise was that the aircraft tours had been cancelled due to the hot weather! The museum is geared towards real aircraft enthusiasts and some interactive displays for younger visitors would have good.

 Verified Cold War on a hot day This is a lot better than the view of aircraft tail-ends from the NDR suggests. The main museum building with a cafe is a good space to start off. I booked a tour of the Nimrod and the Vulcan for about £3.70 each. Nimrod took 45 mins and the Vulcan 30 mins. Really fabulous and knowledgeable insights from the guides. The Vulcan is in much better condition than I expected and is undergoing a refurbishment. Highly recommended.

 Verified Flying high at CNAM! ✈️ Brilliant trip out to CNAM - the volunteers are super friendly and there was a lot more in the collection than we thought. Give the friendship tea room a visit while you’re here for a super tasty brew ☕️

 Verified Small but fascinating air museum close to Norwich A fascinating museum with a wide selection of items on exhibit. Fabulous tours of the Nimrod and Vulcan with knowledgeable guides. Would highly recommend if spending a few days in Norwich.

 Verified Worth a visit if you love aviation If you're interested in planes and the history of recent wars, there's something of interest for you here. For £10 you can learn all about the bravery of aircrew in WW2, watch films/ documentaries and look at the planes outside. For £3.50 we went inside the Vulcan, learning so much about it from a very knowledgeable man. You could easily spend many hours there, have some refreshments and even see Spitfires taking off from the airport opposite. Great shop for souvenirs and models too.
